About the concert

DevilDuck Records Presents

YOUNGBLOODS-TOUR 2023

In a complex world, one of the few pleasing exceptions is that all too often the easier it is to present music, the stronger it is. A wonderful example of this are the three artists: who sit together in the van for the next round of the Youngbloods tour in September. The goal is clear: Only equipped with guitars and words to tell their stories. In the upcoming issue, DevilDuck Records has brought a large portion of Canada on board alongside the Hamburger Deer Anna with Marissa Burwell and Zach Kleisinger.

From 31.08. to 09.09. it says: outside world switched off, inner world of our artists: inner world switched on. You should have heard!

Deer Anna Those who want to dream need imagination. And he who fantasizes escapes the real world. And if you want to escape the real world with music, you will be captivated not least by Deer Anna’s musical escapism. Inspired by artists: women like Phoebe Bridgers and Daughter, the hamburger creates melancholy soundscapes and dreamy atmospheres with her electric guitar, into which she draws the audience with the help of her soft voice. In their songs, profound experiences and emotions are processed.

After her first EP Have I Ever Been Asleep and performances at the Reeperbahn Festival, among others, Deer Anna is currently working on her on 1st anniversary. September, which deals with topics such as being alone, depression and anxiety disorders.

Marissa Burwell Marissa Burwell, an indie artist from Regina, the heart of Saskatchewan, is known for her captivating and endearing performances. After her first EP, which earned her immediate appearances at international festivals such as the Reeperbahn Festival, she released her debut album Bittersweet in 2022. Burwell proved a remarkable development: the warm, summery voice and wit have remained, but under the surface the album is decorated with lush keys, synthesizer passages and subtle drums. Textually, Bittersweet is her most personal work.

Written with one eye on childhood, with the other on a hopeful future and with both feet firmly in the snow. And the new EP is already in the starting blocks, so much is betrayed...

Zach Kleisinger The music of Zach Kleisinger is characterized by a pronounced vulnerability. With his deep, slow and saddened voice, the young Canadian reflects on human existence with stories that record everyday moments. His debut album Their Symposium, consisting mainly of revised, much older songs, was released in 2021 with great applause. He describes it as equally imprecise and precise as “a gathering of entities who want to exchange their thoughts on a particular topic – to me”. The same is also to be expected for the soon-to-be-released new EP.

As confused as this may sound, it is highly recommended to listen to what Kleisinger has to say. Because that's a whole lot.
