About the concert

  • Simon Lucaciu — piano
  • Florian Müller - bass
  • Lukas Heckers - drums

The “SimonLucaciuTrio” was formed in 2016 in Plauen/Saxony, the birthplace of the three young musicians. Since studying together from 2017 at the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater" in Leipzig, the band has been able to deal with artistic influences and inspirations in a very intensive manner. Under the old name "DasRundeDreieck" they played many concerts, a tour in 2019, recorded their debut album in April 2021, which is to be released in June 2022 and won the last Central German Jazz Prize.

On her new CD, Christopher Dell’s thoughts on the concept of improvisation and the differentiation possibilities he proposed are of great importance. The design of unusual forms expands the organizational possibilities. Therefore, not only are forms improvised here, forms are also improvised. It is about a new quality of openness, which becomes elementary and is no longer oriented towards schemes such as the theme-improvisation-topic.

The CD title “STRG + X” adapts the key combination for cutting from the computer language, with which something is put into a memory, so that it can be retrieved from there and used in other environments. This is perhaps the most important quality feature of this very thoughtful and yet far from minded music: it is aware of its means, can turn, turn and rearrange them. Then he-improvised connections create their own forms, play in an unconsumed way with original material.

This is a creative process that is not enough in juggling with set pieces and is too little for pure virtuosity.
