Maddi O'Brien

Originating from the hills of Eastern NSW, Australia, Maddi O’Brien is a traveling troubadour who combines an ambience of folk style and melodic blues with a touch of Australian bush singing. She sings in a warm voice and brings poetic lyrics to life that recall distant memories.
Already in her early twenties, she left Australia with a one-way ticket and embarked on a life full of adventure and travel. For several years, she crossed Europe, the Middle East and North Africa and met eccentric people from different walks of life. As a street musician, she performed both solo and with other traveling musicians in various parts of the northern hemisphere.
From the alleys of northern Italy to the pedestrian bridges of southern Portugal to train stations in Berlin and the promenades in Istanbul, she expanded her repertoire with local folk songs and the ballads of the Gypsies. More recently, she toured along the east coast of Australia, giving concerts and singing workshops that boosted the self-confidence of the participants. The bandwidth ranged from performances at the Cygnet Town Hall in Tasmania to the Yungaburra Folk Festival in northern Queensland.
The singer-songwriter recently released her independent album "Deprivation Blues". The nine tracks are a collection of intimate, gentle songs that deal with topics such as mental health, unrequited love and loss. In her honest texts, Maddi O'Brien gives deep insights into her own underground world.
With her unique voice and ability to tell touching stories through her music, Maddi O’Brien takes her audience on an emotional journey. Her music appeals to listeners on a deep level, inviting them to immerse themselves in a world shaped by dreams and melancholy. Maddi O'Brien is a remarkable artist who knows how to connect her music and stories in an authentic way.
