About the concert
Miriam Moczko makes music in response to the beauty and pain she experiences in life. With her viola, the loop station and effects, she creates landscapes through which her voice points the way to the listeners.
Her debut album HEIMAT is a melancholy and hopeful indie folk record about family, past and confidence. With HEIMAT, Miriam returns to her roots: What does it mean to feel at home somewhere? The songs are inspired by feelings, memories, objects and places.
“It’s an album about my family history,” the singer says. About our origins, which are in Upper Silesia and about the trauma and the long-term consequences of the Second World War. And about the relationship with my parents, who escaped Communism and came to West Germany.
The album was recorded in the music room of Miriam’s apartment in the Netherlands and mixed in the Ballsaal Studios by Berlin sound master Peter Schmidt (among others). Peter Fox and Wallis Bird.
Miriam plays concerts throughout Europe as well as in Australia. She has performed at the legendary Woodford Folk Festival, the Paradiso in Amsterdam and the Melodica Festival in Paris.
Her music is influenced by artists such as Sharon van Etten, Bon Iver, Aldous Harding and Sophie Hunger.
Tamara van Esch is an artist from the indietronica pop scene with a calm voice and exceptional use of instruments. Her influences range from artists like My Brightest Diamond to Blur. Previously, she released three well-received albums under the name Mevrouw Tamara. She has appeared on Dutch national television and radio shows and played at numerous major venues in the Netherlands as well as in England and Italy.
Her latest album "Tussen Lagen" (Ambiguity: Between layers / layers in between) was released as Tamara van Esch. There was a publication tour in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Cyprus and a tour in Japan. With this album, she gives voice to unknown, hopeful stories inspired by interviews with mentally vulnerable people. The texts and artwork were created in collaboration with them. The music was written with artists from different genres, resulting in a colorful and dynamic sound.
