Orbit Kid

Sophie, a singer, composer, improviser and educator based in Berlin, is the driving force behind the band Orbit Kid.

Her alto with a warm and honest sound moves between different genres such as jazz, electronics, experimental music, improvisation and pop. She has played with many different band constellations in Europe, China and Russia, but her artistic basis is in Berlin, where she studied at the Jazz Institute.

Growing up, she learned classical piano and listened to pop and rock music before later discovering her love for jazz music and exploring this musical path.

Her work as a composer, lyricist and songwriter is also influenced by these different genres and people and is characterized by a great love for musical detail.

In 2020, she won the 7. International Jazz Composition Prize 2020 (Miasto Muzyki UNESCO) with her quartet compositions, which later led to her composing the music for her band Orbit Kid Society.

As a scholarship holder of the "Elsa Neumann Scholarship" in 2022, the singer was able to take further steps to realize the project "Orbit Kid Society".
