About the concert
Round Square makes the impossible possible: The balancing act of traditional swing in addition to modern sounds makes the ears listen to a variety of voices, tensions and rhythms. As much as the four saxophonists differ in expression, ideas and interpretations, they are so much united in the design, dynamism and power of their music. They are not only accompanied by bass and drums, but on the contrary guided and challenged, the classical role distribution often turns into the opposite.
So Round Square goes their own way, as they underline with their debut album “Curved Space”, which contains many surprises, smiling and listening. Especially in the impossible, the music takes place, the compositions of the different band members explore this and thus determine the origin of art, of jazz. The compositions are mostly by bandleader Charlotte Joerges.
- Charlotte Joerges- alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, clarinet
- Elli Sooss- baritone saxophone
- Paul Feise- tenor saxophone, clarinet
- Paul Engelmann- soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, flute
- Conrad Steinhoff- double bass, e-bass
