Libor Šmoldas — Guitar

“(Hetty Kate) has a stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice” - James Morrison (Australia)

“(Libor Šmoldas) is a warm, inventive straight-ahead guitarist with some great ideas and the chops to express them.” - Jazz Express Magazine USA

An Australian / Czech jazz duo, vocalist Hetty Kate and guitarist Libor Šmoldas have performed on stages large and small, from New Zealand to New York. With their warm and masterful approach to the classics and curiosities of the Great American Songbook it is easy to compare them to the great voice and guitar duos of the past, Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass or Julie London and Les Paul.

Guitarist Libor Šmoldas has a celebrated career in the Czech Republic and Europe. Critics have praised his smooth, effortless, and melodic approach, as well as his love of jazz and his warmth towards the audience. Libor has worked, toured, and recorded with James Morrison, Bobby Watson, Jon Faddis, George Mraz, Jeff Ballard, Adam Nussbaum, and Gregory Hutchinson, and performed at clubs and festivals across the world.

Vocalist Hetty Kate has been based in France for the past seven years and first sang in Dresden in 2011. With a light, relaxed yet masterful approach to music, her clear voice is often described as sounding like a young Ella Fitzgerald or Blossom Dearie. Hetty has toured internationally for over a decade, released eleven albums and swings her way through a large repertoire of treasures from the swing and bebop eras of jazz.

For this intimate concert, Hetty and Libor will play favorites from the American Songbook and popular tunes from Hetty's albums. Join us for an intimate autumn evening of swinging jazz, beautiful music and stories.
