Rouzbeh Asgarian Trio

Rouzbeh Asgarian Trio

The Rouzbeh Asgarian Trio brings a refreshingly vibrant melange of jazz, rock, pop and funk elements to the stage. These complex structures, which unite Oriental music and European avant-garde, do not exude academic aloofness. Instead, the unusual, almost exotic style of music with rare bars such as a 19/4 bar and distorted guitar and double bass sounds in the jazz idiom offers a fascinating listening experience.

Iranian-born Rouzbeh Asgarian has developed a unique style of staff that delights discerning listeners. As a composer of all song titles and a virtuoso guitarist, he shapes the dynamic musical structures of the trio. Asgarian integrates his fellow players seamlessly into his works and thus creates a harmonious interaction.

Rouzbeh Asgarian (guitar): With his advanced guitar playing, Asgarian permeates all musical structures.

Stefan Rey (double bass): Graduated in the subject of jazz double bass at the University of Music with top grade. He has worked with Vince Mendoza and the WDR BigBand.

Joe Hertenstein (drums): studied music in Munich, Rotterdam, Berlin and Cologne before moving to New York City to complete the Master of Arts in the Jazz degree program at Queens College.

An "eclectic mix of insane meter, cool jazz grooves and tension-laden distortion elevates Asgarian to the upper level of European artists" (Criticaljazz.com). The German-Iranian guitarist Rouzbeh Asgarian shows on his new album that he is "one of the most imaginative guitarists of the younger generation" (Musikansich.de). "Rouzbeh Asgarian creates a non-ordinary music that remains in the ears and also in the mind" (Interkultur Stuttgart). His music is "invigorating, melodic, energetic and open to individual expression" (Criticaljazz).

Despite modern sounds and cool-scratchy funk, the album "Waiting" looks romantic. "Guitar and trumpet sing, the double bass feathers, the drums pulsate" (Jazzzeitung).
