Richard Limbert & Simon Dahl

The fact that the US country is more than cowboy hat, leather boot and yee-haw is what Richard Limbert and Simon Dahl from Leipzig want to prove in the Blue Note Dresden.
The country is made up of very different corners of the music culture of the USA. There the blues has its place, there you can also find gospel, German polka and Irish tunes. An exciting mixture can be found there, which has many facets and tells its own story of the USA.
Richard Limbert comes primarily through the folk to the country. His great musical love is Bob Dylan, his inspiration in the 60s and 70s. The folk scene of New York has fascinated him for a long time and so he came via Bob Dylan to other signposts such as Dave van Ronk and Rev.
Gary Davis. Later, a good portion of quaint blues of the 20s and 30s came along: Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and Lonnie Johnson. He is a songwriter and music archivist and tries to mix these two activities artistically this evening and as a musician and music historian to revive the world of the US country.
The Berlin-born guitarist and mandolinist has been dealing with all facets of the blues for more than 30 years. Originally inspired by such greats as John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Albert King, interest shifted increasingly toward the archaic, acoustic blues of the 20s and 30s. century. Skip James and Mississippi Fred McDowell in particular have come into focus. In the meantime, an extensive repertoire of blues, ragtime and folk has come together. Authentically presented with powerful singing, the artist brings the blues to the audience.
