Golden Green

The Latvian singer Kristīne Cīrule and the German double bassist Michael Bohn met in 2018 whilst studying at the renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. They played in the ensemble led by jazz trumpet great Verneri Pohjola and quickly realised that they were on the same wavelength in more ways than just music.
Whilst still in Helsinki, they performed as a double bass and voice duo, were celebrated by the local music scene, and drew inspiration from Finnish nature and the distinctive Scandinavian play of light for their first joint compositions. As equal protagonists, the double bass and the voice engage in dialogue and discussion, surprising the listener, creating a dense texture, sounding earthy and light, powerful and delicate, as if the world were viewed through a prism of the natural experience, transforming its spectral colours into dazzling music.
All this is seasoned with just the right blend of folk, contemporary classical music and singer-songwriter influences.
After numerous concert tours through Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Latvia, they released their debut album “Growing” in May 2023 (unit records, Bern).
