Matthias Meyers Niemandsland

Matthias Meyers Niemandsland

Closely interwoven saxophone lines, colorful and moving harmonics, playful rhythms. This is how the music of Matthias Meyer’s no-man’s-land can be described. In his compositions, Meyer draws long musical bows, tells wounded stories and always tries to share his own vulnerability with the audience. In the interaction of the five musicians who met during their joint studies at the Jazz Institute Berlin, these stories are brought to life.

Meyer is the winner of the “JIB Jazz Prize” of the Karl Hofer Gesellschaft, which was donated by the Kumm couple. He is currently studying as a DAAD scholarship holder at City College in New York. With his band “Niemandsland” he won the Junge Münchner Jazzpreis 2023. In January 2025, the band’s debut album will be released as part of the Jazzthing-Next Generation series.
