About the concert
Take Note – The Songwriter Sessions is a monthly concert series at the Blue Note Dresden and offers singer-songwriters a stage for their own songs, new ideas and intimate live moments. Between folk, indie, Americana and acoustic songwriting, evenings with changing artists, personal stories and a direct atmosphere are created.
The sessions are moderated by Marie-Sophie Kanske (Sea of Love) and are aimed at experienced musicians as well as new voices from the scene. Entrance is free, donations go entirely to the performing artists:innen.
Musicians: Women who want to perform themselves can contact Marie with a short biography, 1-2 photos and links to audio/video material.
The life of Philipp Makolies is extensive. Founded as a student band, he traveled with Polarkreis 18 once through indie Europe and up to the top of the charts, with his band Woods of Birnam he has released six albums so far and together with his bandmate musicians and ensemble member in fabulously successful Shakespeare productions. In between, he was a long-time studio and live guitarist at Enno Bunger, runs a nostalgic 80ies synthpop project under the name Makk and regularly produces other artists.
In addition, he has a continuous collaboration with the actor Ahmad Mesgarha. In his solo projects he regularly releases sparingly beautiful songwriter folk songs, albums and EPs. The starting point is always the guitar and the never-ending passion to write songs. Just in time for Advent, on the 29th. In November 2024, the Christmas song “Christmas Time and Magic Signs” will be released.
It is the first single of a new solo EP to be released in the spring of 2025 and contains a series of songs that are released in March 2024 during a week-long break in the inspiring seclusion of Tobias Siebert’s Küsselhof.
