About the concert
Take Note – The Songwriter Sessions is a monthly concert series at the Blue Note Dresden and offers singer-songwriters a stage for their own songs, new ideas and intimate live moments. Between folk, indie, Americana and acoustic songwriting, evenings with changing artists, personal stories and a direct atmosphere are created.
The sessions are moderated by Marie-Sophie Kanske (Sea of Love) and are aimed at experienced musicians as well as new voices from the scene. Entrance is free, donations go entirely to the performing artists:innen.
Musicians: Women who want to perform themselves can contact Marie with a short biography, 1-2 photos and links to audio/video material.
Dropping a concert film as a debut album is quite sporty, right?
But at Christoball it also makes sense. Because those who experience him on stage quickly understand that this is not a ringelpiez with loops and backing tracks. This is open fire crafts. His music lives and breathes. She inspires and reacts - always in the service of the groove.
That’s not to say that the young singer and guitarist’s compositions aren’t painstakingly thought through. On the contrary: as an academic good-for-nothing, he knows how to charm lovers of language with internal rhymes and win over the jazz purists with tritone substitutions. And his choice of ingredients – funk, soul, rock and a pinch of pop – is also served up with the utmost care.
But after every hook, however elaborate, there’s always still plenty of room for spirited escalation – be it in the form of dazzling guitar solos, sprawling dance breaks or comical audience interludes.
At his side in this courageous endeavor is a reliable crew - often affectionately referred to as "the coquetry" - with core competencies ranging from heavenly string fireworks to strategic bass bombardment.
So whether solo, in the trio or in the whole sextet: Christoball belongs to every wish list!
