Ondřej Štveráček Trio feat. Jesse Simpson (USA)

Ondřej Štveráček (saxophone), Klaudius Kováč (piano), Tomáš Baroš (double bass), Jesse Simpson (drums)

The trio around the renowned saxophonist Ondřej Štveráček stands for energetic, technically brilliant and imaginative jazz. The music of the ensemble, which is composed of first-class musicians, moves in the realm of post-coltrane bop, combining complex harmonies with emotional depth and powerful improvisations.

Jesse Simpson, a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in New York, has worked with outstanding jazz greats such as Louie Bellson, Marc Copland, Kevin Hays, Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie and Chris Cheek.

Tomáš Baroš, one of the most sought-after double bass players in the Czech and Slovak jazz scene, was musically influenced by his father, the trumpeter Julius Baroš. Already at the age of 14 he won the first place in a national music competition. After studying at the Prague Conservatory, he became a member of the Gustav Brom Radio Big Band and collaborated with numerous international artists, including Benny Golson, Rick Margitza, Antonio Farao, Vincent Herring and Joe Cohn.

Ondřej Štveráček has established himself as a leading figure in the Czech jazz scene. His powerful, expressive playing style is inspired by John Coltrane’s tradition, with Štveráček mastering complex harmonies and fast tempos with great ease. With his own quartet and as a member of the Gustav Brom Orchestra and the big band of Matúš Jakabčic, he has given numerous concerts in Europe and released several critically acclaimed albums. His albums What's Outside and The Form have been hailed for their innovative approach and dynamic sound.

The Ondřej Štveráček Trio feat. Jesse Simpson combines tradition and modernity, delivering an intense listening experience that respects the roots of jazz while breaking new ground.
