The Ondřej Štveráček Trio is a top-class ensemble led by one of the most prominent saxophonists in Central Europe. With extraordinary energy, technical brilliance and creative improvisation, Štveráček impressively highlights the expressive possibilities of the tenor saxophone. He is supported by the Slovak pianist Klaudius Kováč and the renowned bassist Tomáš Baroš. At the drums, the American drummer Jesse Simpson can be seen.

Together they unfold a music that can be described as post-Coltrane Bop: intense, dense and permeated by tradition, but at the same time independent and contemporary.

Ondřej Štveráček For more than two decades, Ondřej Štveráček has been shaping the Czech jazz scene. As a permanent member of the Gustav Brom Orchestra and the big band Matúš Jakabčic, he is one of the country’s outstanding soloists. His playing is deeply rooted in the Coltrane tradition – shaped by the famous “Sheets of Sound” – but over the years Štveráček has developed its own unique sound language. His albums What's Outside and The Form have been critically acclaimed and make him a sought-after guest on the jazz stages of Europe.

Tomáš Baroš Tomáš Baroš is one of the most sought-after bassists on the Czech and Slovak jazz scene. Early musical influence by his father, the trumpeter Julius Baroš, he already won important competitions as a teenager. Since then he has been active in numerous projects – from the Gustav Brom Radio Big Band to the Ondřej Štveráček Quartet and international collaborations with musicians such as Benny Golson, Antonio Farao or Harry Sokal. Baroš impresses with rhythmic precision, melodic depth and stylistic versatility.

Jesse Simpson New York-trained drummer Jesse Simpson brings international class to the trio. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, he played with Louie Bellson, Kevin Hays, Joe Lovano and John Abercrombie. With sensitive dynamism, stylistic openness and sonic sophistication, he is a sensitive and driving motor of the ensemble.
