About the concert
NGT is the meeting of three musicians with a common vision of contemporary jazz. Her music draws on tradition, but also opens up to other influences – raw, experimental and at the same time sonically reflected. The trio moves in unexpected soundscapes and combines independent compositions with selected arrangements of classical jazz standards.
The focus is on Mexican guitarist Hugo Fernandez, who now lives in Berlin after more than a decade in Madrid. His music combines the rich heritage of jazz with the energy of other genres such as pop rock, world music and classical music. “The sound of his music moves away from jazz in places and naturally leads to unexpected places.”
Fernandez is internationally active and has performed at the Festival Internacional Cervantino (Mexico), Festival de Jazz de Madrid, Festival Internacional de la Guitarra de Guatemala, HKW Berlin, Teatro de la Ciudad (Mexico) and in renowned clubs such as the A-Trane, B Flat, Kunstfabrik Schlot, Bogui Jazz Club, Jimmy Glass Club and Snug Harbor.
