About the concert
With IN RESIDENCE we invite young musicians to guest for several days in the Blue Note. In the evening they play concerts on our stage, during the day they explore Dresden and collect new impressions.
Bands from different regions with different musical approaches can be experienced. We are looking forward to a versatile and inspiring concert summer.
Paul Scheugenpflug Quartett
Freshly awarded the newcomer Jazz Prize of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 2024, saxophonist and bandleader Paul Scheugenpflug bridges the gap between catchy pop melodies and energetic jazz improvisation with his compositions. His quartet presents a varied, groove-based program with influences from fusion, hip-hop and pop.
In addition to the Newcomer Jazz Prize, Paul Scheugenpflug also received the Biberacher Jazz Prize in 2024. Already in 2023 he was supported as part of the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship for his work with the jazz collective FÄZZ. Building on this response, the recording of his debut album with the quartet is planned for 2025.
Paul Scheugenpflug is a highly talented and versatile saxophonist. His high artistic quality coupled with intensive networking in the jazz scene of our federal state have [...] rightly made him emerge as a prize winner.
