Esteban Maxera Trio

Blue Note Dresden – exterior view

Esteban Maxera Trio (ARG) – Jazz The Esteban Maxera Trio presents modern jazz with a South American imprint – powerful, rhythmically multi-layered and full of sonic depth. The focus is on Argentine bassist and composer Esteban Maxera, whose works form the trio’s complete repertoire. His pieces combine folkloric influences from South America with free improvisation and contemporary jazz language – far from stylistic clichés.

He is accompanied by two long-time companions: Andrés Tarrab on drums and Kimey Gómez on tenor saxophone. Together, the three create a highly dynamic interaction based on communication, fine balance and acoustic openness. A particular strength of the trio lies in its cast: it deliberately dispenses with harmonic instruments such as piano or guitar – and thus gains great sonic freedom and transparency.

The lack of a classical accompanying instrument leaves much room for individual expressiveness, spontaneous developments and a clear structure within improvisation. The bass assumes not only rhythmic, but also melodic and harmonic responsibility, without dominating the overall sound.

The trio is regularly on tour in Europe and Latin America. Performances have taken her to the Venezia Jazz Festival (Italy), Out Jazz Lisbon (Portugal), Cádiz, Paris, Berlin and many other venues. Their concerts are characterized by precision, expression and a deep mutual understanding – music that tells, grooves, breathes and surprises.
