In Residence - Summer at the Blue Note
Tobias Altripp Trio
Jazz · Blues · RootsARTIST · DE

In search of an active jazz scene and for a study at the music college there, Tobias Altripp moved to Mannheim in 2016.
Previously, he made his first musical steps in Vorpommern, where he grew up in the Hanseatic city of Greifswald, went to school, took piano lessons and in his free time intensively engaged with music, arranged and composed. In the meantime, Tobias Altripp has long since made the former leisure activity a profession, was awarded among other things with the promotional prize of Schweriner Jazznacht and shared the stage with musicians such as Tony Lakatos, Sandy Patton and Klaus Graf.
In 2019, he fulfilled his dream of having his own trio, followed in 2020 by the debut album ("Experimental Blues") of this band, on which 6 original compositions can be heard - partly new arrangements of compositions that still date back to school. Since then, however, the development machinery has not stopped. Never losing touch with role models such as Oscar Peterson and Mulgrew Miller, the trio continues to forge its own path through the current world of jazz.
At live concerts and studio sessions, the trio likes to cooperate with first-class guest musicians, such as the Berlin trumpeter Gabriel Rosenbach or the saxophonist Marc Doffey. The resulting second album of the band is entitled "We Bring Some Horns" and was released in February 2024 by the renowned music label Mons Records. The album shows that the trio has continued to grow together in the time since the release of the debut album despite a pandemic.
Both in the trio, without the winds, and together with the guests, this progress and the growing togetherness are clearly noticeable in the music!
