The Delta Magpie

The Delta Magpie

The Delta Magpie, bourgeois Sven Müller, is a professional musician from Switzerland who held his first guitar in his hand in 1977 at the age of eight. In the meantime, he can look back on more than 400 concerts at home and abroad. As a one-man band, he plays guitar, dobro, vocals, foottomp, footnare, HiHat, Kazoo and Harp – all live and without loop effects.

Fascinated by raw, intense vocals, percussive play and a driving sound of great rhythmic and emotional intensity, The Delta Magpie follows in the footsteps of the bluesmen of the Mississippi. His one-man band brings the music and soul of the Mississippi to Europe – a glowing fireworks display from ragtime to Delta Blues and Boogie Blues to rockabilly. Raw vocals, driving guitar sound and pure dobro slides, carried by stomping foottomp, footnare, HiHat, Kazoo and Harp.

The new album Cold In Hand was recorded completely analogue and captures the warmth, authenticity and roughness of bygone times. The sound of the analogue tape machine Miss Studer A80 16 track and old microphones brings the magic of the golden age directly to the beloved, crackling vinyl. The 12 songs were recorded in a three-day live session – all instruments and vocals were recorded simultaneously by The Delta Magpie, without overdubs and loops. Just like on stage: analogue and loop-free.

The sound of the analog tape machine Miss Studer A80 16-track and vintage microphones revives the magic of the golden age and puts it straight onto beloved crackling vinyl. The 12 songs were recorded during a three-day live session – all instruments and vocals were performed simultaneously by The Delta Magpie, without any overdubs or loops. Just like on stage: analog and loop-free.
