About the concert
Anna Kalk Quartet is a dynamic ensemble founded in Bern, Switzerland. Anna Kalk’s compositions are introspective explorations of the darker sides of life, struggles and bitterness. At the same time, they reflect the warmth and comfort that arise after life is turned upside down. Her music lives on contrasts. With angular rhythms and driving bass lines in contrast to wide melodies and gentle soundscapes, it illustrates the intensity you feel as life changes.
Whether it’s the quake of a transition, the melancholy of an end, or the uncertainty of a new beginning, Anna’s music acknowledges that life is ultimately bigger than all of us – a realization that can provide deep comfort.
Anna Kalk is a guitarist from Estonia. For the past six years she has lived in Germany and Switzerland. She plays and composes in various formations such as Assonance, KBK, EDNA, Noblique and Anemoon.
