About the concert
The Nico Cleemann Trio has a long history behind it. Already in 2003, the jazz pianist from Rügen and living in Rostock got to know the now living in Chemnitz drummer Toni Müller. They studied together at the Dresden Music Academy “Carl Maria von Weber”. They founded a trio that existed until the end of their studies. Concerts led her, among other things, several times to the Chemnitz Jazzfest. Nico Cleemann moved to Rostock. Since the contact never broke off, they decided in 2024 an internal reunion of the band, which is now continued in the Rostock Jazz Club.
As new bassists, they were able to win Andreas Böhm, who is very active in the local music scene. With him, Nico Cleemann is connected above all a very good cooperation in the Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra.
The focus of the trio is clearly on playing their own compositions. But also a few pieces of other jazz composers enrich the program. Stylistically, the band can be assigned to the great genre of fusion jazz. Elements of various directions of jazz can be found in her compositions. Striking in this are the many memorable melodies, which together with interesting harmonies, catchy grooves and sometimes extravagant improvisations offer a varied and demanding concert programme.
