The trio of Finnish guitarist Mathias Sandberg stands for hard swingin’, groovy and soulful jazz with a strong melodic profile and playful-rhythmic improvisation. Sandberg, described by critics as “one of Finland’s best kept secrets”, is one of the most busy jazz musicians in the country.

He studied at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and worked with Georg Riedel, Brian Charette, Nick Mancini, Peter Asplund, Jukka Eskola, Teppo Mäkynen and Manuel Dunkel, among others. With about a hundred concerts annually he toured both Europe and the USA.

His solo albums The Doctor (2020) and The Captain (2023) received excellent reviews and international radio airplay on all continents. They are characterized by energetic swing, grooved joy of play and an almost telepathic interaction of the trio.

Over the past two years, the ensemble has played over 100 concerts from Lapland to Helsinki and consistently brings its music “to the people”.
