About the concert
Andrea Šulcová & Marcus Lewyn
Andrea Šulcová is a singer-songwriter with roots in the Czech Republic who has lived in Dresden for five years. Her expressive voice and keen sense of lyrics are effortlessly combined with the best tradition of contemporary American songwriting. In her songs, she tells honestly, directly – yet hopefully and with a wink – about the turning points of life and the search for what really matters.
Musically, Andrea draws on a wealth of experience: Growing up in an environment shaped by country and folk, she studied jazz flute in Prague and Graz. This stylistic diversity shapes her music in its own way.
In May 2025 Andrea met the jazz double bass player Marcus Lewyn – and a special musical connection was immediately created. Marcus studied in Hanover and Dresden and is on concert and theater stages throughout Germany. Tours also took him to the USA, China, Finland, Italy and Poland.
In the Blue Note, Andrea Šulcová and Marcus Lewyn are on stage together. In addition to songs from Andreas’ debut album Opportunities (published on the label Animal Music), listeners can look forward to many new pieces – sensitive, authentic and full of musical depth.
