About the concert

With Assembled Instincts, the Vincent Meissner Trio presents a new program and an exciting side of his musical work, which has developed in particular through the intensive interaction in the trio. At the center are pieces and miniatures that have been created from free improvisation. Over the years, the ensemble has developed a common musical language, shaped by instincts, trust and an exceptionally intuitive way of interacting.

Raw, immediate and supported by a growing collective intuition, the concert on 29.12.2026 at the Blue Note Dresden captures this special moment in a unique way.

"A new hope of German jazz", MDR culture recognized, which increased the Deutschlandfunk even more: "a band that will take off like a rocket."The American downbeat heard "excitement and enthusiasm" in Vincent Meissner's debut album "Bewegtes Feld" from 2021, produced by his mentor Michael Wollny. It all started in 2017 when Henri (2002) and Vincent (2000) met at the music school in Dresden to jam and make music together. Two years later, in 2019, Josef (1998) joined the band. Henri and Vincent currently live and work in Leipzig, Josef in Paris.

Her music is about conveying impressions of the present beyond words and evoking emotional experiences that go beyond the tangible moment – in a completely natural way. In addition to numerous awards, such as the "Förderpreis der Deutschen Jazzunion" (2019), the "Mitteldeutsche Deutsche Jazzpreis" (2020), the 1st German Jazz Prize. Place at the "Jungen Münchner Jazzpreis" (2021) or the 1st Placed at the "International Biberacher Jazzpreis" (2022), the band released their highly acclaimed second album "Wille" last year at the renowned label "ACT".

In recent years, the Vincent Meissner Trio has also played in major clubs, events and festivals across Europe, including highlights such as the “Angrajazz Festival Azores 2021”, the “Jazzopen Stuttgart 2022”, the “Getxo Jazzfest 2023” or the “Off-Beat Basel 2024”.

The American magazine "Something Else!" writes about her album "Wille": "In the succession of the Esbjörn Svensson Trio and The Bad Plus, the Vincent Meissner Trio gives the old piano trio format a youthful freshness." Obviously, it is an ensemble that is also in tune with more recent currents of contemporary music, such as Louis Cole. As a logical continuation of this, their third album “Eigengrau” was released in July 2025, also on ACT.
