About the concert

Vincent Meissner Trio feat. Matija Chlupacek

Matija and Vincent met this summer at the Concerto-21 Academy in Siggen on the Baltic Sea. When the human and musical spark had already jumped after a short time, the common desire to work on new projects arose in the future. Since then, it has been brewing diligently in the song kitchen. As the first result of this exciting collaboration, you can experience the Vincent Meissner Trio with Henri Reichmann and Josef Zeimetz on 30 December 2026 at the Blue Note Dresden featuring Matija Chlupacek on singing and on the flute.

An intimate evening awaits you with a brand new program of songs that try to connect personal feelings with the diverse impressions of our environment.

Matija Chlupacek studied recorder with Maurice van Lieshout (University of Music and Theater Munich) and with Dorothee Oberlinger at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he completed his master’s degree with distinction in 2025. The musician, who came from a German-Slovene family, continued to develop artistically during his school years – regularly at the master classes of Maurice Steger in Solothurn and the Menuhin Baroque Academy in Gstaad, among renowned lecturers: early music teachers such as Reinhard Goebel, Hille Perl or Diego Ares.

Even before his studies began, he was awarded several times as a prizewinner of national music competitions. He is co-founder of the old music ensemble Stereotype Baroque (since 2022) and of Ensemble Interchange, winner and scholar of the German Music Competition 2024.

The ensemble performs in renowned concert series, including at the Thuringian Bach Weeks, the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival and the format “Concerts of Young Artists:innen” at the NDR Radiophilharmonie; in April 2025, an invitation from the Goethe-Institut Quito led the musicians:innen on a guest tour through Ecuador.

In addition to chamber music projects, Matija Chlupacek has also appeared in recent years at opera productions and major cultural events – among others at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken, at the Audi Summer Concerts in Ingolstadt, at the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, at the Staatstheater Nuremberg and at the Münchner Residenzwochen. In 2023 he took over the musical direction of the music theatre production “Hamlet” of the Mozarteum Salzburg.

His debut as a performer (with recorder) he gave in a supporting role in Edgar Reitz’ film production “Leibniz – Chronicle of a Lost Picture” with film music by Henrik Ajax (premiere 2025). In 2026 he was a scholarship holder of the concerto21 Academy, in 2027 Matija Chlupacek works as curator for early music in the house Styriarte in Graz. Both in historical performance practice and in contemporary expressions at home, he regularly collaborates with composers to further develop the repertoire for his instrument.
