In Residence - Summer at the Blue Note

MOE.JO3

When warm Hammond sounds meet angular saxophone lines and drums full of finesse, more than just music is created: an electrifying dialogue is formed between three personalities who understand each other blindly – and yet never stop challenging each other.

MOE.JO3 celebrate the classic organ trio – and at the same time lead it into new territory. Instead of the familiar guitar, the saxophone comes to the fore as a sonic protagonist: sometimes powerfully gripping, sometimes lyrical and breathing, always with its own character.

Despite all the joy of play, there is a noticeable seriousness, a common will to depth,

Structure and musical statement. The songs of the trio carry traces of soul, blues, post- Bop and free improvisation – but they elude any categorisation.

What connects the three? An unwavering pulse, an audible pleasure in the musical conversation – and the rare gift of also giving tension to the space between the notes.

This is not accompanied; it is a joint reflection, reaction, provocation and response. The music lives in the interplay of form and freedom – it breathes, swings, bubbling and touches.

MOE.JO3 – this is not a nostalgic retrospective and not an abstract experiment, but a lived contemporary sound: energetic, playful, unpredictable. Anyone who listens, feels immediately – here is not only played. It's being told here.
