About the concert
Usually musicians use predetermined structures and improvise over them. The Shuyu Hsieh Quartet reverses this and creates an individual improvisational approach that creates the structure.
Although freedom is a necessity in their music, melodies and space are still an important part of the quartet’s own sound. This makes him abstract, but accessible and reaches many hearts and ears.
Although they come from very different musical cultures, these musicians manage to mediate between the genres classical, jazz and traditional folk music. The goal is not only to merge these genres, but also to collide them with each other in order to create a unique sound.
