Obscure Quartet

Blue Note Dresden – exterior view

The Obscure Quartet is dedicated to the challenging compositions of modern jazz. The focus is on works by greats such as Joe Henderson, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter and Kenny Garrett, whose complex harmonies, striking rhythms and open forms still fascinate musicians and audiences today.

With saxophone, piano, bass and drums, the quartet interprets these pieces in its own way, combining the tradition of modal jazz and post-bop with a contemporary sound language. This creates an exciting dialogue between the past and the present – full of energy, improvisational joy and musical depth.

Cast: Nikita Potipko (saxophone), Lennart Scharfenberg (piano), Oriki (bass), Roberto Rodriguez (drums).
