Candida Quartett

The Candida Quartet brings together four musicians who combine their different musical experiences to form an independent jazz sound. The focus is on the saxophonist Nicholas Harrison, who comes from New Orleans – the city that stands like no other for the history and development of jazz.

Together with Niccolò Leirich (piano), Christian Luck (bass) and Antonius Pinkernell (drums), the quartet embarks on a musical journey through the many facets of New Orleans jazz. The repertoire ranges from traditional influences and early jazz forms to modern interpretations and contemporary sounds.

The special connection between the New Orleans tradition and the European jazz perspective characterizes the character of the quartet. Well-known musical roots are picked up, reinterpreted and led into the present with a lot of space for improvisation.

This creates a varied set that makes the joie de vivre, rhythmic energy and musical openness of New Orleans noticeable – from traditional to modern, from swinging to experimenting.
