Trouble Ahead

Trouble Ahead

Trouble Ahead play Rhythm’n’Blues. They are inspired by the 40s and 50s – Swing, West Coast Jump, Soul, Surf, the unpolished sounds of Chicago’s blues as well as music from almost everywhere in the world – partly contemporary, partly almost forgotten: first-class R’n’B and soul hits by LaVern Baker, Ruth Brown or Etta James, as well as electric post-war blues by Little Walter, B.B. King or T-Bone Walker. Their deep appreciation of these styles can be heard in a selection of interpretations of obscure songs from the past as well as their own material.

They say good music moves either the heart or the butt – this band has both in the program. Dancing like dreaming desired.

What began as a duo in 2016 has now grown into a five-member band around singer Anja Tschenisch. With Bruno Laube at the harmonica and Christoph Hennebeil on the guitar, the band not only has two virtuosic instrumentalists, but also two other singers who underline the band’s versatility. Trouble Ahead have no need to pretend and stand by their orientation as an oldschool blues band without sounding puristic.
