About the concert
Not only because her own story is shaped by detours, new beginnings and constant change – the music of the Wahl-Leipzigerin is also an emotional change bath. A filigree acoustic guitar sound meets atmospheric depth, through live loops and electronics a veritable suction effect is generated. Janda’s crystal-clear and space-grabbing voice tells stories that seem strangely familiar and henceforth no longer let go – her songwriting is the key to a space that otherwise remains tightly closed.
If you just like it, settle her songs somewhere between pop and jazz, but then overlook a thousand colorful souvenirs of the trip here: the blues of mom and dad. The soul of old flea market records. Cross the rhythms of faraway places. MDR Kultur describes Janda’s debut album “The Other You” as “listening, full of surprising turns (...) between demanding pop, jazz, chanteuse, big voice, intimate moments and everything at the same time already so mature, far-reaching and coherent in terms of their own musical universe.”
