///MORITZ VON KLEIST’S TONWERKSTATT lives up to its name: Here saxophone and trumpet are shouldered, bass and drums firmly anchored in the ground to forge finely shaped sounds from transparent composite cones.

Long curved arcs and clay cascades are fused into lines with blade-sharp edges. Reza Askaris and Nils Tegens bass and drums forge a sound scaffold, Moritz von Kleist on the tenor and not least Ryan Carniaux on the trumpet drill massive holes into the newly erected sound walls, weave breakneck runs with sweet melodies.

Moritz von Kleist’s Tonwerkstatt consistently relies unpretentiously on independent works of art, built with a highly virtuosic playfulness and a gripping joy of experimentation.

On 16.04.2019, the renowned Cologne label Jazz Haus Musik released the debut album of the Cologne-based band around saxophonist Moritz von Kleist.
