About the concert

The Rainald Brederling Quintet formed over biscuits and coffee in Weimar in the summer of 2018 and has been searching for itself ever since.

Or after Rainald, because he has disappeared. It's been longer. The four survivors from Leipzig (Robin Rauhut/p), Bern (Sonia Loenne/voc) and Mainz (Grégoire Pignède/b, Eddy Sonnenschein/dr) already played their way through various late-night clubs and radio stations in Germany and into the selection of the meeting Young Music Scene at the Berlin Festival 2018, as well as into the concert selection of the Federal Youth Festival Leipzig (2020, 2021) and the Bucharest International Competition 2020.

In August 2020, Castle Studios Röhrsdorf produced their first studio album: "Angry Voicemail to E". A.

The pieces on this album are in themselves very diverse, political, and often quite loud. The Rainald Brederling Quintet simply likes to shout out its displeasure about many things: gender traditions, forest redness, confrontation with your own waste, the smell of gasoline - they would like to leave all of this behind. They would like to lose their upper hemisphere while playing together and see the stars better than fluid, cosmic forms grow into a band organism, live the text in the music.

And so a plea for a future arises: angry, free, planned, theatrical and also delicate, told with and without words.

The Rainald Brederling Quintet without Rainald - without experienced bandleaders, without in the foreground artists: inner personality. Clearly for this in the here and now.

A small orchestra that strives for song usefulness, abandonment of common band role types, virtuosity and above all topicality. Creative music, if we want to name it. (P.S.: Rainald, get in touch when you read this!)
