JMJ

JMJ

Music lives on contrasts. This liveliness is in the foreground in the compositions and play of JMJ. They take advantage of the transparency of the small formation. JMJ combines classically inspired piano playing with groove-heavy drums and fretless bass. In addition to the joy of improvising, her main focus is on themes and arrangements. JMJ incorporates tonal and rhythmic concepts into the compositions.

Having met in Dresden, Jannik Kerkhof, Mikolaj Suchanek and Jonas Mielke have been playing together in various groups for years, but only formed into a trio in 2018.

In the course of the "Blue Note Poznan Competition", the three musicians, despite the ensemble that had just been created, were already able to convince the jury and win a prize.

In addition, JMJ 2019 were nominated for the Junge Münchener Jazzpreis and are winners of the Stifterpreis of the Hochschule für Musik Dresden.
