Born in Naples in 1990 and now living in Berlin, guitarist and composer Matteo Ridolfini founded his own jazz trio in 2021 with his former fellow students from Jazz Institut Berlin Johannes Schauer (bass) and Jonas Friese (drums).

In his music, very different factors play a role that make them something unique. As a soloist, it is clear that his heart lies in the roots of bebop. A soft and warm tone and cleverly constructed jazz phrases are indeed a hallmark of his playing, combined with lyrics and attention to detail that recall the style of guitar legends such as Jim Hall and Jimmy Raney.

As a composer, he is always looking for a bridge between the aforementioned tradition and the music he grew up with. This ranges from alternative music from bands like Radiohead and Depeche Mode to heavy metal subgenres, with melancholy always being a common denominator.

He focuses mainly on melody and harmony and is mainly inspired by everyday experiences, trying to tell the modern world through his own eyes in an intimate and profound way.
