Nico Theodossiadis shines with his soloist “voice” through the tightly staggered musical textures of the quintet “Nico Theo”, which he conducts. World musical traces run through the compositions, ground them and act as a counterpoint to the intense dynamics of the compact band sound The quintet, despite the “Greek” coloring, never becomes the one man show of the bandleader, but his colleagues find enough freedom to pursue their own ideas and playful ways.

Despite his youth, the quintet has developed an already very complex and well-balanced sound image, which can skilfully alternate between expressive and balladesque moments dramaturgically. The band thus achieves its goal – to draw their own pictures with a cast well known in modern jazz history.
