Juli Gilde

Juli Gilde is 19 years young, but the light-hearted ease of her songs shimmers an adult and often melancholy Maturity that could come from Dota Kehr or Judith Holofernes. This contrast makes up the music of the singer-songwriter.
Juli Gilde writes her first song at the age of 9 for the wedding of a relative. At 15 she applied for the ZDF show "Dein Song" and made it to the final. Two years later, she becomes a prizewinner of the "Meeting of the Young Music Scene" of the Berlin Festival. And starts work on their debut EP in 2020, along with longtime TV Noir Tonmann Simon Gordeev as producer.
Juli Gilde grew up in Berlin’s French Buchholz district, and the EP, which will soon be released: “French Bookwood”, is named after him. Thematically, it is about a time in life when everything is open. "On the doorstep between parental home and the big world" - the artist describes the mood of the songs. They tell of smashed knees, packed suitcases, raven children, the ferocious outskirts of the city. And all this with a keen eye, which captures the situations in such a way that faces and spaces become tangible.
The first lines of the chorus are "Stadtrand", a tribute to the artist's childhood and youth in Buchholz: "We had false names and murder games, illegal bicycle races up to the ice cream parlor" and just as exciting and excited sounds the lively folk-pop song. On a summer day wandering through fields, always looking for a new adventure, then abruptly stopping at the building fence, where large construction machines "torture the meadows".
