About the concert
„If jazz has to be termed as a wave, then music is a sea, but if the reflectors in the water is the chord.“ - PAT METHENY
Esther Kaiser is one of the singers who for years have shaped today’s “German Vocal Jazz” in a cross-style and versatile way; she is a vocalist who tries to combine jazz and improvisation with other musical currents with various projects. On her seventh solo album WATER (VÖ March 2022), Esther Kaiser, since 2014 professor of singing jazz rock pop at the Dresden Music Academy, also contributes as a producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and lyricist. Many of the pieces were created in collaboration with long-time partner on the piano, Tino Derado.
In the duo - the nucleus of musical communication - the two Berlin musicians come together in an intense sound space and take the listener into an urban sound, as it were, as it were, contemporary, as well as into distant, almost fairy-like sound worlds, thanks to Esther Kaiser's ethereal-warm voice and the use of unusual sound sources such as the water-driven glass harp.
