About the concert
"Youkali, the land where our longing lives." Youkali, where the source of happiness never dries up. Youkali, is where all our worries go. Is when at night a light makes happy, the shining star is YOUKALI...
The title of this gorgeous tango by Kurt Weill is also the title song of the recently released studio album by Boegershausen & Bewerich. After 6 years of several consequential live concerts, the duo now released their essence of the love and life songs of B. Brecht, Kurt Weill, Hans Eisler, Curt Bry, Erich Kästner, Kurt Tucholsky, and many others.
Music is the only language that cannot lie. She screams, she laughs, she whispers, she loves and cries, in fine melancholy or heart-freshing comedy, in tender fear, biting irony or overflowing love. Her tears with and without grief are real and warm and cannot be hidden. Neither the day before yesterday nor the day after tomorrow, and certainly not today: love competes with rawness at a hard price. And yet it will be she who “wins”.
YOUKALI lies within us, is time and (T)space at the same time and challenges us to hope. ... in a world whose poetry album still has so many free sides.
