Moritz I Fricke I Demeyre

Moritz I Fricke I Demeyre
Marius Moritz is a musician. The pianist and composer, who was born in Magdeburg in 1990, is particularly interested in the bridges between (only apparently) widely separated musical languages, which he tracks down and crosses in his music. He does not distinguish early polyphony, new music, jazz and free improvisation as irreconcilable worlds, but rather explores their similarities and mutual influence.
Even before his piano and composition studies at the Carl Maria von Weber Dresden School of Music (2010-2017), he worked across different fields and was interested in the most diverse facets of improvised music. Today, for example, he plays. Pieces by Erik Satie with jazz musicians, arranges pop music for orchestra, sets German lyrics to music for big bands or combines free improvisation with medieval instrumental music.
Many teachers, among others. Thomas Zoller, Günter “Baby” Sommer, Matthias Bätzel and Michael Fuchs provided decisive impetus for this, as well as his concert activities with a wide variety of ensembles throughout Germany, France, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and the USA. In addition, he works as a teacher for JRP piano at the Georg Philipp Telemann Conservatory in Magdeburg and as a lecturer for jazz history, theory/hearing education and composition at the Carl Maria von Weber School of Music in Dresden.
In this trio Johannes Fricke on bass and Felix Demeyere on drums.
