Randi Tytingvåg Trio

Randi Tytingvåg Trio

A unique singer and songwriter at the interface of folk, folk and jazz.

Randi is known for her warm, clear voice and a communication of the extra class. This one is real and intimate. Together with the musicians Dag Vagle and Erlend E. Aasland founded the Randi Tytingvåg Trio. The close interaction and the delicate choirs have become the trademark of the trio. They occur in an "old-fashioned way": all three around a microphone. You don’t need any monitors or backline! They appear as a unique small chamber orchestra with a large dynamic bandwidth.

On the lyrical side, Tytingvåg has entered into an exciting collaboration with the poet Helge Torvund. They work together in an inspired and real river. The first time they worked together in 2019 on the album The Light You Need Exists. It was a great success. In autumn 2021, her first Norwegian-language songs were released on the album Trøsteviser for redde netter (Comforting Songs for Fearful Nights). Tytingvåg and Torvund share a strong desire for the light in their work to shine through. Consolation carries a vulnerability, but also a touch of hope that something better lies ahead of us.

In recent years, the Randi Tytingvåg Trio has undertaken extensive tours in Norway, Germany and Austria. They have rave reviews for both their concerts and their albums.

As a music student in London, Randi studied with jazz singer Lee Gibson and composer Michael Burnett. In 2001 she graduated from the School of the Arts in Roehampon. In the same year she made her debut with Maijazz. In 2004, she was voted Stavanger Artist of the Year in her hometown. In 2006, she made her theatrical debut with the lead role in the musical drama Skyfri himmel (Olaug Nilssen/Bjørn Eidsvåg) at the Rogaland Theater. In autumn 2011 she was again on the stage in the play MOR: Eg konne vel tenkt meg å gå heile Den kinesiske mur (Rønnaug Kleiva/Randi Tytingvåg). This piece is based on their own songs.

She has released nine albums and two EPs so far.
