Emmanuel Walter Trio

Emmanuel Walter Trio
Why break the rules if the existing ones can be deformed and equalized, bent and redefined? The trio around the pianist Emmanuel Walter with Kevin Knödler on bass and Valentin Steinle on drums seeks in his interaction routes away from the road, but without getting lost in wrong ways. It reveals a strong connection to classical harmonics, as well as to free improvisation, contemporary pop and rock music and an unconditional devotion to the tradition and roots of jazz. Above all, there is the musical and emotional connection of the participants, which shapes the overall process into what it is: a game, sometimes serious, thoughtful or melancholy, sometimes powerful and pulsating, sometimes exuberantly cheerful, sometimes with wit or parody. The constant of this ensemble lies not in stylistic catchiness, but rather in the ever-perpetuating flow of play, whose elements on a never quite certain path always merge into something surprisingly new and despite everything recognizably native.
