Clarissa Forster Quartet

Clarissa Forster Quartet
With Into the Blue, Clarissa Forster presents her debut album – clear in sound, open in form and alive in interaction. As a singer and composer, she thinks her music from within: from material, time and form. The pieces emerge from concentrated compositional processes and unfold with calmness, transparency and a special attention to sound. Forster’s musical background combines classical sense of form with the openness of jazz. Their way of working is characterized by close listening: Which idea carries? What is allowed to condense, what needs space? Voice and instruments are understood as equivalent elements. The voice is not in the foreground, but naturally fits into the instrumental structure; the piano complements individual pieces and expands the sound. Between chamber jazz, contemporary songwriting and free moments, a music is created that is both structured and mobile. Lines interlock, dynamics remain transparent, time can stretch or bundle – always with an eye on the whole. Into the Blue is worn by a strong quartet: Max Heimler opens wide sound spaces and fine textures with his guitar, Alex Bayer combines with his bass floor and mobility. Florian Fischer complements the ensemble on drums with a keen sense of form, time and interplay. Together, an ensemble sound is created that looks fresh, is precisely worked and at the same time leaves room for development. Into the Blue is music that sounds clear, remains open and makes you want to listen – contemporary, focused and moving.
