Wegmann Grübel Quintett

Wegmann Grübel Quintett

Moritz Grübel – Alto Sax
Lion Wegmann – Piano
Ben Mammel – Trumpet
Simon Kuban – Bass
Heinreich Eißmann – Drums

The Munich-based pianist Lion Wegmann and the saxophonist Moritz Grübel from the deepest Black Forest have known each other since they began their jazz studies together in Nuremberg in 2016. The two experienced composers have played together in numerous bands and formations in recent years, for which they both wrote and worked together on an extensive repertoire of pieces. Now they present a stylistically wide-ranging “best-of” of old and new compositions in a fresh quintet line-up and get reinforcements in the form of the Berlin bassist Simon Kuban, the drummer Heinrich Eißmann, also from Berlin, as well as the Brandenburg trumpet player Ben Mammel on board.
