He is one of the outstanding young vocal talents in Germany. Erik Leuthäuser comes from jazz, but has now created his own world between progressive jazz attitude and alternative pop song. In the quartet line-up, he brings his concept work “Addiction” to the stage, which will be published on 26.04.2024 by Fun in the Church/Staatsakt.

The current songs revolve around “the theme of addiction from a queer perspective”. That Erik Leuthäuser can be unconditionally personal, he had already demonstrated on his multi-colored dazzling crossover album “Wishes”. There he made a bow from the Friedrich Hollaender-Chanson to a self-incorporated Duke Ellington classic to the Dota piece or his own songs like “Can you be my Kangaroo”. The new “addiction” cycle he implements live in the duo. The brilliant jazz pianist Julius Windisch.

Erik Leuthäuser (*1996) is a young singer and composer who works in the border area of jazz and experimental pop and uses the German language more and more. Honest and free of clichés, inspired by his experiences as a young gay man in the big city of Berlin. The Mannheimer Morgen describes him as a “shining young singer who is considered the coming voice in German jazz”. His debut album was nominated for the Prize of German Record Critics in 2015. He sang background for Quincy Jones, George Benson, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Jacob Collier and recorded albums with jazz legends such as Ken Peplowski, Alan Broadbent and Kurt Rosenwinkel.

Revolutionary in transition: Shining young singer is considered the coming voice in German jazz. (“Mannheimer Morgen”) 30.10.2017)

His voice is beautiful and free, he is young and dedicated, honest and full of music. (Sabine Kühlich/Jazz singer)
