The Sewing Machine Quartet
With Times, a new era in the already ten-year history of the quartet around guitarist Simon Harscheidt begins. The sewing machine quartet has now found its sound with its third studio album: the unmistakable duet of saxophone and guitar, carried by the playful groove of bass and drums, became the trademark of the young Munich quartet.
The composer’s overall goal has not changed since the beginning: the melodies of his songs should be beautiful and catchy. Why shouldn’t contemporary instrumental jazz also be able to produce earworms?
Press releases:
Musically, the four move between pop and classical music, between electric and acoustic music, between melodically in-depth compositions and, what a joyous surprise, the blues. [...] And how they played it, the sewing machine blues, that just demands respect. By the way: The band name alone is already price-suspicious! (Süddeutsche Zeitung)
"[...] By embedding these influences in their own specification "English and demanding at the same time" the band creates a completely independent niche in which lyrical finds place as well as tricky, fragile and fierce." (Donaukurier)
