PAUL BERNEWITZ TRIO

PAUL BERNEWITZ TRIO
Fine-tuned chamber music and rousing groove: The young jazz trio around Paul Bernewitz is composed of drummer Jonas Sorgenfrei and bassist Sebastian Claas. The Leipzig-based pianist sought out two excellent team players and passionate musicians, with whom he developed an unmistakable band sound: profound, dynamic, responsive, his own. The atmospheric compositions are played, which often flow lyrically, but can also be rugged and angular. Here and there a homage to Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Maurice Ravel – or they put Conrad Paumann, a Nuremberg organist of the 15th century. century, a monument by adapting one of its pieces. Charles Ives' last, dedicated to Henry Thoreau, set of his 2nd sentence. You have certainly not heard piano sonatas in the jazz trio yet – with plenty of room for improvisation, which emerges from the original composition of 1919. The trio regularly returns to Broadway and revives a well-known jazz repertoire. All three musicians love this freedom.
