RAUKE, a project of the German-Japanese, Berlin-based trumpeter and composer Shogo Seifert, will present his debut album “Causes of Imagination” in March 2025 as part of the Jazz Thing Next Generations series. The extraordinary ensemble combines the sonic elegance of a classic string quartet with the dynamism and openness of a jazz quartet. The compositions fuse the risk-taking and sound aesthetics of contemporary jazz with the subtle gestures of classical music into a unique musical language.
Shogo Seifert’s plays reflect current social themes, individual perspectives and emotional experiences. They combine influences of the American and progressive jazz scene, but escape simple categorizations. Each piece takes the audience to unexpected places – sometimes gently, sometimes powerfully, always with an element of the unpredictable.
The music offers space for individual virtuosity and combines it with the energy of collective improvisation. The sound of the ensemble is multi-faceted and multi-layered, harmonious and full of tension, idiosyncratic and at the same time accessible.
With her music, RAUKE creates an atmosphere that captures the variety of human emotions and directly touches the audience.
