Paula Steimer Quintett
Paula Steimer Quintett
The Paula Steimer Quintet is a Cologne jazz formation consisting of Paula Steimer (saxophone, bandleader), Frederik Hesse (trumpet), Philip Weyand (piano), Lena Lorberg (bass) and Jakob Görris (drums). Founded in February 2023, the band aims to develop musically and form an independent sound language.
The focus of the repertoire is on Paula Steimer’s own compositions, which reflect personal experiences and moods. The pieces pick up on different life situations – from moments of pause and reflection to phases of letting go and trusting in your own path.
Since its foundation, the band has been heard in renowned jazz clubs and festivals, including the King Georg (Cologne), the Jazz Schmiede (Düsseldorf), the Café Ada (Wuppertal), the Brass (Saarbrücken) and the Jazz Against The Machine Festival in the Artheater (Cologne).
In August 2023, the quintet recorded its first album, which was released on 31. October 2024 was published. In addition, the band was awarded the performance scholarship of the Carl-Richard Dörken Foundation.
